Our Staff 

Allen Brown's experience as preacher, teacher, and minister grows daily in the work of the Gospel at Laurel Oak Christian Church (LOCC). He has been on staff since 1994.  He comes to ministry here with a Master of Divinity degree earned from Emmanuel School of Religion in Johnson City, TN.  He is on the board of Envision, a church-planting ministry focused on funding new churches in North Carolina.  He enjoys hiking and camping in the mountains of North Carolina and sharing family vacation time at the beaches. Michael Harris, Worship/Youth Minister, comes to us from Columbus, Ohio and earned a Bachelors in Worship from Kentucky Christian University, where he is currently pursuing a Masters in Church Leadership. He married his college sweetheart, Heather, who also graduated from KCU, in January of 2010. Heather is highly involved in their ministry at LOCC. Michael and Heather reside in High Point with their new dog, AJ. Michael enjoys riding roller coasters, watching Ohio State Buckeye football team, hiking, playing Frisbee golf and reading. Michael is thankful that his wife enjoys doing these crazy things with him.  Michael's passion is to be the Christ to those that he meets. He cares about developing relationships with people and showing them that God loves them. It is Michael's desire to create an environment at LOCC where people love God, love others, and serve their community. Musically, he desires to lead God's people in a meaningful time of corporate worship, bringing together elements of music, drama, video, art, and Scripture to create this. In regards to the youth, Michael's hope is that every teenager will develop a love relationship with Jesus Christ, and that this relationship will overflow into every aspect of their lives. Nancy Lewis, Administrative Assistant, a true-blue Carolina Tarheel's fan keeps the church coordinated with managing records, necessary correspondence, tracking the church calendar and publishing the monthly newsletter. Her husband, David, keeps the building and grounds in good working condition and works part time for the City of High Point. Their daughter, Janet and her husband, David, reside in Cary. Janet is a graphic designer and David is a character illustrator for video games.
