We exist as a Christ-centered, Bible-believing, people-loving body of believers.
Our identity as a non-denominational church has a non-binding association with independent Christian Churches/Churches of Christ found throughout the United States and around the world.
As a self-governing body, we are self-supporting and self-propagating church.
The heritage of Laurel Oak Christian Church begins in 1926 as the N. Hamilton Church of Christ of High Point when a few friends gathered together believing that a Christian Church of the Restoration Movement was needed in High Point, NC. With commitment and faith in the Lord, they collected dimes, quarters and tithes to buy a plot of land. The first owned-facility located herself at a small brown house on State Street near N. Hamilton Street. The church relocated to 301 E. Lexington Avenue of High Point in 1954 to become the First Church of Christ of High Point.
In March of 2003, the church sold its Lexington Avenue property, to meet at the Hartley Street YMCA, to begin construction of a new facility in the Laurel Oak Ranch area of northwest High Point. The desire to meet the needs of more people and to construct a building that would accommodate the physical needs of many more. The name changed to Laurel Oak Christian Church to reflect the new focus for service and growth. On Easter 2004, the first worship began with 266 in the new multi-purpose building.
Our members come from many different backgrounds of all ages, races and cultures.
We continue with a Lion's heart with great expectations to fulfill His purpose as His church. As Christians, God provides increase in service and opportunity, both spiritually and numerically. Striving always to reach for the prize before us, we make the most of every opportunity and not grow weary in doing good.
To God be the Glory always through the many members of His church established through His Son, Jesus the Christ.
